The Shook Foundation distributes $15k in its fifth grant cycle

The Shook Foundation is a non-profit organization funded and operated by the employees of Shook Construction and seeks to be an enduring resource for those they serve. With a vision to enrich the communities where the employees live and work through engagement and investment, all employee pledges and donations to the Foundation are used to contribute to non-profit organizations for transformational causes within the community.


In its fifth grant cycle, The Shook Foundation awarded six grants and distributed a total of $15,765 to local community organizations. Grant recipients include:


  • Chippewa Lake Lions Club Foundation Inc., Chippewa Lake, OH, $5,000

    The Chippewa Lake Lions Club promotes the objectives of The International Association of Lions Clubs: “to serve communities locally and globally, giving hope and impacting lives through humanitarian service projects and grants.” Lions International has 1.4 million members with 49,000 clubs around the world.


  • Cleveland Film Society dba Cleveland International Film Festival, Cleveland, OH, $500

    Founded in 1977, the Cleveland International Film Festival is one of the longest-running and largest film festivals in the United States. The festival aims to promote artistically and culturally significant film arts through education and exhibition to lift the community. Through this, they are able to help the world discover the power of film arts to educate, entertain, and celebrate an inclusive human experience.


  • GiGi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Centers, Cleveland, OH, $1,500

    GiGi’s Playhouse strives to “change the way the world views Down syndrome and to send a global message of acceptance for all.” Overall, they offer free programs for 3,000 individuals of all ages with Down syndrome through a replicable playhouse model.


  • SAM Ministries, Bothell, WA, $5,265

    SAM Ministries runs a grade school and feeding program that serves remote communities in Mucombeze, Mozambique, with over 600 children now in attendance. These funds will be used to supply desks for two new classrooms (grades 8 and 9) at the recently expanded school to provide a better learning environment for the students.


  • Tippecanoe Educational Endowment Fund (via The Troy Foundation),

    Tipp City, OH, $2,500

    The Tippecanoe Educational Endowment Fund (“TEE”) supports Tipp City Schools by promoting programs and activities of their school through donations and gifts to support academics, general activities, performing arts, and fine arts.


  • Voices Center for Resilience, New Canaan, CT, $1,000

    Formally known as Voices of September 11th, Voices Center for Resilience assists communities in preparing for and recovering from traumatic events. They began their mission to help families in need following the traumatic events of 9/11. Since then, VOICES has assisted a multitude of people across two decades. With The Shook Foundation’s Dayton golf outing held on 9/11/24, the Foundation wanted to support an organization who helped those affected by the tragedy.


In total, the Foundation has now distributed over $118,000 to 45 different community organizations since launching in January 2022.
